So another year passes in the history of the Rockhouse Brothers, and it is up to me to recap all the highs and lows, laughter and tears of 2011.
All in all, as Frankie once said “it was a very good year”. Apparently he also once said “relax” but I digress… Here are some of the highlights:
We celebrated 10 years of “The brotherhood”. Think about it. The Beatles formed in 1962, changed the history of music forever and then split up in 1969. That’s 7 years. Buddy Holly, Richie Vallens and Eddie Cochran all played rock’n'roll for less than 5 years. Vanilla Ice jammed his entire hit making career into 3 months in 1989!
I am not sure if my math is 100% correct here, but it seems to me like one year in a band is equal to about 15 years as a regular civilian. That means that in “band years”, we are around 150 years old, which might explain why I wake up feeling like I do most mornings.
Then again, I should count myself lucky. Wolff also has his dog years to deal with. When you put them into the equation, he ends up being at least 278.
We recorded and released Rockhouse Brothers to go!
This time around, we wanted to find out what The rockhouse brothers would sound like if we brought in one of the best sound engineers in the world to record and mix us. For better or worse, the answer seems to be that we sound more or less like…..The rockhouse brothers.
We designed and printed official RHB T-shirts. On the day that we got them back from the print shop. we all agreed that no matter how sweaty we were after a gig, no matter how long we were on tour (and away from a washing machine), we would not raid the T-shirt box for our own personal use.
We completely overhauled rockhousebrothers.de
If you are reading this, then the new site must be working. Hurray!
We played live shows with our horny little friends “the brasses of fire“. Fine musicians one and all. Surprisingly, they also seem to be able to drink even our toughest men under the table.
We Disgraced ourselves repeatedly on national TV. Why is it that, the more embarrassing things we do, the more successful we become. Why can’t we just be cool like other bands? Actually, don’t answer that.
And last but not least, at some point last year we also invested in some new little ankle sox for wearing under our chucks! There is nothing quite like the sensation of walking on stage with the feel of fresh white cotton.
So that is all from me. Here’s to 2012!
